Moreton, Bobbingworth and the Lavers Parish Council has agreed to suppor the new Ongar Community Network service, managed by the local news and information service Everything Epping Forest.

Ongar Community Network is a volunteer and information service for Ongar and the surrounding area (High Ongar, Moreton, Willingale, Fyfield and Stanford Rivers), created to provide information and support in case of an emergency.

ONC is gathering contact information of people willing to help in an emergency, perhaps bad weather - flooding or storms - during or after a major fire, or during long periods of power or water supply issues. The volunteering part of OCN follows the successful ‘Coronavirus Volunteers’ initiative run by Everything Epping Forest during the COVID-19 lockdown when volunteers were 'paired' with people living nearby who requested help. (Please note the volunteer pairings arrangement will only operate when there is a situation requiring community support).

To register as a volunteer, email ongarcommunitynetwork@gmail.com with your name, address, contact telephone number (preferably a mobile number), confirmation of your contact email address, and details of what help you could offer.

OCN has a WhatsApp group highlighting local road closures, traffic updates during floods and storms, and other community information. You can join the group via this link https://chat.whatsapp.com/GXQ9KQf7QdXHPgX85tQYju . If you have information which could be shared on the WhatsApp group - and on the Ongar Community Network online page, email the details to ongarcommunitynetwork@gmail.com  or ring or text 07710 447868.
